Kyklops is a compact and intuitive file manager designed to integrate smoothly into your application landscape: requiring just a corner of the screen to show you all essential information about your files in a well-readable form, it can be kept open on the desktop as a static component always ready to help you while you are working. Thanks to an embedded metadata framework, it allows each user to assign their own comments and categories to the files they are managing in order to recognize them unequivocally, even after the files have been moved or renamed, and to look for them semantically through a specialized search interface, in which besides from regular expressions related to the file names, different sets of categories can be used to identify the target files based on user-defined criteria. It offers besides that many unique features that greatly optimize user-experience, like instant graphical representation of all kind of files, optional multi-column layout to access at once several levels of the folder tree, a bookmark panel allowing each user to reach their working folders with one click, recorded sessions that can be restored on-demand to reopen automatically all files related to a particular subject, free file associations to choose in a transparent way the programs that must take care of each file type, and an open and dynamic clipboard that can be fed progressively, checked anytime for its contents and pasted selectively on the target folders.
